Wall-to-wall stair treads and risers

Wall-to-wall treads cover the full step surface, wall to wall, milled from the flooring material supplied for your project. Matching risers finish the vertical face.

Choose wall-to-wall treads when

• The stair is enclosed on both sides and you want one continuous surface on each step.
• You are replacing carpeted stairs with no finished tread underneath worth keeping.
• You want riser faces finished in the same material as the treads.

What to measure

• Plank width first — material under 7 inches wide and material 7 inches and wider are quoted separately.
• Each stair wall to wall, at the front edge and again at the back, because enclosed stairs are often out of square.
• Tread depth and riser height, noting any variation at the bottom step.
• Treads and risers counted separately; a run usually has one more riser than tread.
