Treads ready for under-lighting

We prepare treads for your electrician’s under-tread lighting; we do not install the lighting.

  • Routed channels for LED strips.
  • Clean reveal edges.
  • Floating and wall-to-wall treads.
Lighting preparation details

We build treads with the right reveal, routing, and clearance so your electrician or contractor can add under-tread lighting cleanly. The lighting itself isn't installed by us, but we make sure the parts are ready for it.

Accurate measurements are what make a quote possible. Here is exactly what to send, and how finished parts reach you.

What to measure

  • Plank length, width and thickness — measure a loose plank where possible.
  • Number of stairs in the run, including any landing steps.
  • Each stair width, wall to wall or edge to edge.
  • Which sides are open (left, right or both) and need finished returns.
  • Flooring brand, product or collection, and the color name or SKU from the box label.

How shipping works

  • Stair parts are made by hand in Columbia Falls, Montana.
  • We ship to customers across the United States.
  • Freight cost and production timing are confirmed in your written quote, per project.
  • Identify the flooring for review; any material-handling requirement is confirmed afterward.
  • Parts are shipped once you approve the quote.

FAQ

Common questions

Read common questions
How much does stair nosing cost?

Pricing depends on the product type, flooring material, dimensions, open sides or returns, and number of stairs. Send those project details through the online request form and we review them and reply with a written quote covering parts, timing and freight.

How do you match LVP, laminate, or hardwood flooring?

Tread Space reviews parts from the flooring identified for the project rather than selecting a generic color match. Laminate is offered for stair nosing only; LVP, composite and wood options depend on material review.

Do you make custom lengths and odd sizes?

Custom lengths are part of the offered scope. Send the flooring and stair measurements, including each stair width and any open sides, for review and quoting.

What's the difference between a stair nosing and a full tread?

A stair nosing caps the front edge of a step where your flooring stops. A full tread — wall-to-wall or floating — covers the entire step surface. Floating treads are wrapped on 4, 5, or 6 sides so all visible edges are finished.

Can the treads be made for under-tread LED lighting?

Yes. We build treads with the routing, reveal, and clearance your electrician needs for LED strips. We don't install the lighting itself, but the parts come ready for it.

Do you ship outside Montana?

Yes. Stair parts are made by hand in Columbia Falls, Montana and shipped to customers across the United States. Freight cost and timing are confirmed in the written quote for each project.

What measurements do you need before quoting?

Plank length, width and thickness, the number of stairs, each stair width, and which sides are open and need finished returns — plus the flooring brand, product or collection, and color or SKU from the box label.

I order stair parts for client projects. Is there a different process?

The same online request form handles trade jobs. Select Installer, Builder or Dealer under 'I am a…', and include your previous order reference in the message box for a repeat order so we can start from the earlier specification.

Do you serve the Flathead Valley and the rest of Montana?

We're based in Columbia Falls, Montana. We regularly serve Whitefish, Bigfork, Somers, Polson, and the surrounding Flathead Valley, and we ship stair nosing and treads to customers outside the area.

Do you install the treads?

We supply the parts and detailed install guidance — see our How to Install page. Most homeowners work with their flooring contractor or installer, and we're happy to talk through the details with them.
