Closed stairs
When a step meets walls on both sides, wall-to-wall treads can cover its full surface. Matching risers can finish the vertical faces. Tell us whether risers are needed, rather than assuming they are included with every tread request.
Tread Space
Tread Space builds vinyl stair treads from your own LVP or vinyl plank flooring, wrapped by hand in our Columbia Falls, Montana shop. The stairs carry the same planks as the room instead of a generic vinyl tread in a coordinating color.
A tread is the horizontal surface you step on. Vinyl stair treads made by Tread Space use your LVP or vinyl plank flooring to cover that surface and finish its front edge. They are stair parts built for the reviewed layout, rather than loose flooring planks laid over an unfinished edge.
LVP means luxury vinyl plank. A stair nosing finishes the front edge; a full tread covers the step surface. A riser is the vertical face between steps. Identifying which of these parts you need helps us review the request without treating every stair as the same job.
Using the flooring you supply carries its actual color and grain pattern from the room onto the stairs. Coordinating stock trim is a separate product; its appearance and available shape may not meet the needs of an exposed stair end or a wide step. Send the exact product details rather than a color description alone.
The box label identifies the brand, product or collection, color and SKU. A photo of a loose plank edge adds information about the material and locking profile. Those details and the plank dimensions are reviewed together; a brand name alone does not establish which stair parts fit your flooring.
Vinyl plank does not naturally wrap a stair edge on the job site. We wrap approved parts by hand in our Columbia Falls, Montana shop, where the edges and profiles are reviewed as part of the build.

A left, right or double open end needs a finished return around the exposed edge. Describe the sides for each step, standing at the bottom looking up, and photograph the full run and exposed ends. A run may include both enclosed and open-sided steps.
Tell us the edge shape you are considering and include a photo or description. The applicable profile is confirmed during review, not promised from a name alone. If you only need the front edge finished, stair nosing may be the appropriate part rather than a full tread.
Count the steps and record each stair width individually. For enclosed stairs, measure at the front and back because the space may not be square. Include tread depth and riser height, and note any variation instead of sending one assumed measurement for the entire run.
Measure a loose plank for length, width and thickness. Keep the units clear and pair the measurements with label, plank-edge and stair photos. These are details for a quote review, not a substitute for your installer's final checking or the installation guidance.
Start with your name and email, flooring brand, product and color, plank dimensions, step count and stair widths. Add city/state, open sides, preferred profile, whether you need risers and your project timeline. Optional photos help show the floor and stair layout together.
